Dr Paul Clayton graduated summa cum laude in Medical Pharmacology from Edinburgh
University, prior to obtaining his PhD. He is Fellow and former President of the Forum on Food &
Health of the Royal Society of Medicine, FRSA, and a former Senior Scientific Advisor to the UK
government’s Committee on the Safety of Medicine. He has worked with leading doctors and
clinical scientists at centres of clinical expertise in the UK and abroad, and trained the
pharmacists in Britain's largest chemist chain in preventative nutrition. Dr Clayton frequently
presents at and chairs international conferences on nutrition and health. He is a Visiting Fellow at
Oxford Brookes University, and chair of the scientific advisory boards of BiotheraPharma (USA)
and Itogha (Norway). He is also Technical Director of the Szent-Gyorgyi Instititute of Clinical

Jane Sen is an accomplished chef and has worked with chefs throughout the world. She is
dietary adviser to Bristol Cancer Help Centre, a nutritional expert and a popular lecturer to health
professionals and interest groups throughout the world. Author of Healing Foods Cook Book and
More Healing Foods (above).
Mike Stroud completed a degree in anthropology and genetics and qualified as a doctor in 1979.
He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1984 and a Fellow in 1995. He has
travelled widely. He was the doctor on the 1984-86 "In the Footsteps of Scott" Antarctic expedition.
In 1993 he was awarded the OBE in recognition of their first unsupported crossing the Antarctic
continent from coast to coast with Ranulph Fiennes. In the 1990s he was Senior Research Medical
Officer for 6 years advising the MoD on nutrition, exercise performance and survival. He returned
to hospital medical practice with particular interest in nutrition and metabolism. He and Ranulph
Fiennes completed 7 marathons, in 7 days on 7 continents. He has contributed to many international
publications. Author of Survival of the Fittest: Understanding Peak Physical Performance.
Professor Jane Plant is one of the world’s leading geochemists and chief scientist of the British
Geological Survey from 2000 to 2005, as well as Professor of Geochemistry at Imperial College,
London. She graduated with a Class 1 Honours degree in geology at Liverpool University in 1967,
gaining her PhD in Geochemistry at Leicester University ten years later. Jane has worked at the
British Geological Survey for her whole professional career and took a leading role significantly
(and at first unexpectedly) in the new field of environmental health. During the 1970s it was Jane
Plant’s team which identified links between deficiency diseases in livestock and the geochemistry
of the land on which they lived. Author of several books including Your Life in Your Hands (above).
Patrick Holford researched the role of nutrition in mental health and illness, whilst completing his
bachelor degree in Experimental Psychology at the University of York. He is a leading pioneer in
new approaches to health and nutrition and is widely regarded as Britain’s leading spokesman on
nutrition and mental health issues. He is author of over 30 health books, translated into over 20
languages and selling over a million copies worldwide. In 1984 he founded the Institute for
Optimum Nutrition (ION). Patrick retired as Director of ION in 1997 to focus on writing, teaching
and researching. He is an Honorary Fellow of BANT (the British Association of Nutritional

William Bloom - Doctorate in Psychology from LSE, lecturer in Psychological Problems in
International Politics LSE, 10 years work with adults and adolescents with special needs, deliverer

Howard Gardner - BA summa cum laude in Social Relations, Harvard College, 1965; PhD
Psychology, Harvard University 1971; author of over 400 research papers and 20 books, including
Multiple Intelligences and Multiple Intelligences - New Horizons.
